Carbaglu® (carglumic acid)

Carbaglu is used for the treatment of hyperammonaemia (high blood levels of ammonia) in patients with the following metabolic diseases:

  • N-acetylglutamate synthase (NAGS) deficiency
  • some organic acidaemia’s (isovaleric acidaemia, methylmalonic acidaemia and propionic acidaemia).

CYSTAGON is indicated for the treatment of proven nephropathic cystinosis.

Cysteamine reduces cystine accumulation in some cells (e.g. leukocytes, muscle and liver cells) of nephropathic cystinosis patients and, when treatment is started early, it delays the development of renal failure.

Normosang® (Human Hemin)

NORMOSANG contains human hemin, which is a substance derived from human blood.

NORMOSANG is used to treat sudden attacks that occur in patients suffering from acute hepatic porphyria; the disease is characterized by liver accumulation of compounds (including porphyrins and its toxic precursors).

Pedea® (Ibuprofen)

Pedea is used to treat ‘patent ductus arteriosus’ in new-born premature babies who were born six or more weeks too early (less than 34 weeks gestational age).

Patent ductus arteriosus is a condition where the ductus arteriosus (the blood vessel that allows blood to bypass the baby’s lungs before birth) fails to close after birth. This causes heart and lung problems in the baby.

Cystadrops® (Cysteamine)

Cystadrops is an eye medicine used in patients from 2 years of age who have cystinosis.

Cystinosis is an inherited disease where a natural substance called cystine builds up in the body forming damaging crystals, particularly in the kidneys and cornea (the transparent layer in front of the eye). Cystadrops is used to reduce the build-up of cystine crystals in the cornea.
